Dessau took on world-wide importance when the Bauhaus moved here in 1925. See the famous Bauhaus of Walter Gropius - the icon of Modernism - built of glass, steel and concrete. See also the famous Masters' Houses, the former homes and ateliers of the painters Feininger, Kandinsky and Klee. After a three course meal in the Kornhaus riverside restaurant built by Carl Fieger, one of the Bauhaus architects, there is a chance to see the Gropius Estate in Dessau-Törten.
