Wörlitz
The Wörlitz parks are some of the earliest and most beautiful landscape gardens on the European mainland. Inspired by study trips to England, Italy, Holland, France and Switzerland, the impressions of travel and concepts of enlightenment are reflected in the artistic gardens. Five garden areas are separated by lakes and canals, to be brought back together as a harmonious whole with boats, bridges, paths and visual aspects.
The little town of Wörlitz extends parallel to the park area and offers lots of entrances to the garden. A design correlation is decisively distinguished by F. W. von Erdmanns-dorff. The historic town hall with the market place, the church, the Jewish cemetery, the former residence, the synagogue, the Christian cemetery and the historic inn “Zum Eichenkranz“ invite visitors to enjoy a sightseeing tour.
